Something I have not tried is bringing up the VM and seeing if I can use the COM port under Linux. Even though HyperTerminal is not a part of Windows 10, the Windows 10 operating system does provide Telnet support, but it is not enabled by default. Short of uninstalling the VM software (which I really don’t want to do) I am not sure what to try next. I double checked and the serial ports on the VM are disabled and the VM software is not started or running unless I explicitly do it, so I don’t really think it is the culprit, but it’s all I can think of right now.
